Hotel Rural Ohana

The breakfast buffet was excellent, with plenty to help yourself to and good dishes cooked to order. We also ate dinner on our first and last nights. There was a reasonable choice, but portions were small for the prices. The hotel is lovely and the setting is terrific, though some things make it hard to justify the cost or want to return. Feeling charged extra for basic comforts is annoying. The pine woods are beautiful, and the buildings are attractively arranged around the grounds. The pool area is good, with loungers beside a large play space for children. Staff were friendly and very helpful, though their English was limited. Phone apps made communication easy enough. Our cabin's layout was odd. The downstairs TV faced at a right angle from the couch, and a wardrobe blocked the view, so you’d have to sit on the stairs to watch it. We weren’t interested in watching, but it was still strange. Upstairs, the mezzanine held the bedroom and bathroom. The bed was comfortable and a good size, but there was nowhere to put clothes, so we used the suitcase stand from downstairs. The bath, whirlpool, and shower combination was just weird and didn’t do any of those jobs well. It was too small for a bath, there was nowhere to put the shower head, and the hot water pressure was so weak that filling it for the whirlpool would take ages. There was a very noisy mini fridge downstairs stocked with hugely overpriced snacks and drinks. The prices were at least 300 percent higher, and the rules said we couldn’t bring our own snacks or drinks, which felt like a rip-off. I’ve stayed in basic and five-star hotels around the world and never been charged for water in the room. Tea and coffee are usually complimentary too. Here, water costs extra and one Nespresso pod is a euro.

For anyone wanting a break from the city's hectic buzz, this is a great spot. The hotel is beautiful, up on the mountain in a forested area, with fresh air and a peaceful feel. The staff are extremely friendly, the rooms are clean and nice, and the jacuzzi is great.

The staff were professional, polished, and genuinely enthusiastic about hosting us. I loved the breakfast area, which felt like a picnic, along with the sunbathing spot by an outdoor jacuzzi, the pool, and the kids’ play area, which seems ideal for young families. I stayed in room 1 at this lovely hotel outside La Laguna and Santa Cruz, on the beautiful road up to Mt Teide. I don’t usually like duplex rooms, but this one was fantastic. Downstairs had a nice sitting area, a fully stocked minibar, and a coffee machine. Upstairs were a lovely bedroom, a bathroom with a jacuzzi, and bio amenities. I can’t wait to come back with my partner for a romantic nature trip, with hiking and time to relax at the lodge.

It’s such a relaxing place, and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were attentive and made things feel personal. The area is lovely for unwinding and getting some fresh air, though it might get a bit hot in summer since there’s no air conditioning and the pool isn’t heated. A kettle was missing from the room, although there was a Nespresso machine, and I wish they’d provided slippers because the stone floor gets cold. The hotel is new, so I’m sure these little details will be worked out over time. We’d come again.
