Hotel Comarruga Platja

We spent one night in room 203 before our flight from Barcelona. I expected an economy hotel, but it should still meet reliable three-star standards. This place fell far short, and I’d give it no more than one star. The room was badly outdated and clearly needed renovation. There were dead mosquitoes on the walls, and the furniture looked 30-40 years old. A bad smell lingered, the old air conditioner was noisy, and there was mold residue in the bathroom. The mattress and pillows were disgusting, and I barely slept. I asked to change rooms as soon as I saw it, but was told none were available, even though I’d booked 30 days in advance. The photos on the hotel website were severely misleading; the actual room looked completely different. When I raised all this with the front desk, I got only a half-hearted “sorry” and no offer of compensation. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I strongly urge people to look elsewhere. It isn’t worth any price.

The location was hard to beat, and everything was spotless. The team were super friendly, the food was really tasty, and the quality for the price was great. Amazing hotel!

The room conditions were awful. The bedrooms weren’t clean, there was no duvet and it was freezing, and our feet got so dirty walking around that we had to keep our shoes on. A sewage smell filled the rooms and got worse each morning. The walls were paper thin, so we heard every conversation, plus loud scraping noises at 6am. Rude guests stayed there, and children made moaning sounds at us two days in a row. The pool was freezing, and the staff were so unhelpful that nobody helped us find it. The shower sprayed out across the bathroom floor, and it was clearly not cleaned regularly. Do not book this place.

The room was decent enough, but on the second day a foul smell came from the bathroom. Around 90% of the others on our school trip noticed it too. There was mold in the bathroom, with some areas obviously painted over. Reception were friendly enough, though one rude young waiter gave the English people looks and talked about them. The food was mostly rubbery and strange, so I ended up eating bread and gherkins all week. This place was just okay at best, and I wouldn’t recommend it, especially if you plan to eat there.
