Eriste has a much older feel than the ski lodge style buildings in nearby Benasque, which is probably what you come to this beautiful valley for. There’s some construction in town at the moment, the only thing I can find to complain about. Casa Rosita was a delight. My room had a balcony looking out over the lake, and the building’s stonework and beautiful hardwood paneling made it feel special. The town’s medieval stone architecture and idyllic Pyrenean valley setting were wonderful too. The server/receptionist/Jill Of All Trades was multitalented and took great care of us. I enjoyed eating at Casa Rosita even more than my Michelin Star dinner in San Sebastian. Staying in this lovely chalet has been the best decision of my Spain trip. I can’t say enough good things about it.

The portions were generous, the ingredients exquisite, and the regional food was excellent. Service was friendly and efficient too. The owner recently received an award for her lifelong contribution to local cuisine.
