Las Dunas Grand Luxury

The property is stunning and well maintained, with an elegant, large, comfortable room and a delicious breakfast overlooking the sea. The staff we met were keen and capable, but it felt like management was absent. We checked out a day early, disappointed with the stay, and definitely will NOT return. We couldn’t use the indoor spa pool during our stay. It should have been heated and has jets, but on both visits it was unattended, tepid, and the jets weren’t on. We never saw spa staff. At the front desk, we were told both times that the staff member was busy giving a treatment and couldn’t operate it. Ice service was another problem. Our call to the front desk took a reminder after 40 minutes before the ice arrived, and we were charged 5€ for delivery. The ice itself was free, but nobody had told us there was a delivery fee when we asked room service for it. When we asked for a manager, we were told none would be on site and we couldn’t speak with one, though our concerns would be passed along. We never heard back. Both situations felt unacceptable for a hotel of this level. We were told the hotel closes for winter Sept 30, two weeks after our stay. My hunch is that there were fewer guests and a skeleton staff, leaving the excellent staff stretched across too many responsibilities and guests with inferior service.

The menu is huge, and I do wonder how the chef handles such a broad mix of dishes. As a regular, I know which ones I like, though there are a few I won’t order again. I still enjoy visiting las dunas property, sitting outside with the scenery and the nice team. They can get a bit overwhelmed at times.

There’s a fantastic beach front bar / restaurant, ocean front fitness, and a spacious SPA. The place has an old school money feel that never goes out of style, built back when space and M2 didn’t seem to matter. Staff are friendly. It’s a shame that so many owners don’t seem to be around often and aren’t renting out, which leaves the place feeling empty.

The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, with warmth and professionalism. Our luxurious room combined modern elegance with comfort and had breathtaking coastal views. The facilities were pristine, the amenities impeccable, and the dining experience top tier. An unforgettable stay and a true gem in Málaga. Highly recommended!
