TRH Paraiso Hotel

The staff were amazing, and check-in was smooth and enjoyable. We had a great conversation, and when I mentioned the air con, they brought up a tower fan within 5 minutes. Thanks, guys. As for the room, the AC seemed purely decorative. They clearly knew, since the fix was a tower fan like you’d find in a student flat. Staying in it felt like spending a holiday in a sauna with furniture. There was no tea or coffee, either, so bring your own kettle and hope for the best. The bathroom freebies were a comb and a shower cap. Useful, unless you’re bald, in which case they’re just two reminders of what you don’t need. The balcony door only opened a crack, enough for a ferret or a catwalk model who hasn’t eaten since 2007. Everyone else gets the view through glass. Breakfast cups were chipped. Maybe that was meant to be rustic charm, though I spent the morning wondering if a ceramic splinter was coming. If you like irony, passive-aggressive bathroom freebies and the faint whirr of a tower fan at bedtime, this hotel’s for you. Otherwise, maybe keep scrolling down the booking site.

We came in October for a little pre-winter sun. It was quiet, with a few coach groups around, and had a nice feel. The hotel is a bit dated, but not dreadful. After reading some of the reviews, we expected worse. The staff are super lovely. Food was OK, nothing special but it did the job. Air con isn’t great, so I wouldn’t want to come in the height of summer. I think you get what you pay for, and it was good value.

We've spent weeks trying to get compensation from Last Minute and Hotel TRH Paraiso after having no AC for our entire 13-day stay. It was a heatwave, with temperatures reaching 34 degrees Celsius every day, and our room felt like 29 degrees at night. The hotel said it couldn’t provide another room because the problem affected the whole property. Last Minute offered only 1000 SEK for a booking that cost 30,000 SEK. It’s a disgrace. Their service has been terrible, with painfully slow replies and no proper customer support. They clearly don’t put customer satisfaction first. Never book with Last Minute.

The buffet had a really good selection of fresh salads, cheeses and cold meats, plus hot dishes like chicken, fish and different stews. There was plenty of dessert, including fresh fruit, cakes and ice cream. The restaurant is large and can seat lots of people. The rooms and beds are spacious, and towels and beds are changed daily. The hotel staff are really helpful. Wine with dinner had to be paid for at the desk, which was a bit of a pain because the food was left getting cold. It would be better to add drinks to the room and settle the bill when leaving. We stayed over Andaluce Day, so the hotel was full. I’d have liked a quiet area overlooking the gardens, with comfortable settees where you could relax and read. It would also have been nice if the indoor pool were open, especially with a week of rain forecast. Lots of elderly people have come from the UK looking for sunshine. The hotel is a good mile from the nearest shops and restaurants, all uphill. A courtesy bus would be a lovely gesture so residents don’t feel trapped and frustrated.
