Casona de Indias

We loved our room, especially the French windows and comfortable bathroom, with picturesque mountain views and sheep and cows on the neighboring farm. We were traveling between Bilbao and Lugo before starting the Camino de Santiago for our honeymoon, and this lovingly restored 19th-century mansion was such a lovely stop. Pedro was a kind, generous, accommodating host. He made us a delicious dinner of local burrata salad with fresh strawberries and tomatoes, plus Spanish tortilla made with farm-fresh eggs. You could hear the cows whose milk went into the cheese. Breakfast was included, with local cheeses, fresh fruit, jams, warm bread and good coffee. The quality and service were very reasonably priced. At sunrise, the views, historic craft details, and modern yet comfortable design made us want to find an excuse to return to Spain. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the communal solarium, with its wide windows, comfy couches, contemporary art, books and fireplace. It seems like a great base for hiking in the Asurias, visiting local farms or exploring nearby caves.

Please treat the house, the surroundings and Pedro with respect, and you’ll have the best vacation of your life. This feels like a dreamy place from a movie or book, with love and care in every little detail. If you want to get away from the world, look no further. Just be warned, you may not want to book another hotel after this.

The views are so relaxing, and the accommodations are fantastic. On my first visit to this lovely bed and breakfast, I found the owner and manager extremely attentive to guests and their needs. Worth a visit.
