Hotel Cabot Cala Ferrera

The location is absolutely stunning, and the food had a huge selection that we enjoyed. Sofia, the entertainment provider, was fantastic, with lovely energy. Everyone was polite and helpful, and couldn’t do enough for us. When a few minor issues came up, the staff resolved them kindly and thoroughly. We had a fabulous time and will definitely be back. Thank you to everyone!

The hotel and rooms feel modern and are very clean. I loved the style, and I think they’ve recently renovated. The staff were very friendly, the location was awesome, and the view was so good I could watch it all day. There were so many delicious choices at the breakfast buffet. 10/10.

The views are great, the walks are nice, and some staff work really hard to please. That’s what this hotel has going for it. The food was often lukewarm, with a poor selection, poor-quality meats and tasteless sauces. The chicken drumsticks and lamb neck bones were swimming in oil. Salads and desserts were reasonable, but green beans at breakfast? Drinks outside the basic all-inclusive options cost extortionate extra prices, and there were long queues at the lounge bar. There wasn’t enough storage in the room, or enough hooks, so clothes and toiletries ended up on the floor and we were always stepping around bags and suitcases. We raised numerous complaints about these problems and got no action or apologies. Personally, I’d only recommend the hotel for B&B. There are plenty of excellent places to eat nearby at reasonable prices.

Cabot Cala Ferrera has a fantastic location, stunning views and beautifully designed, exceptionally clean public areas. The breakfast selection was good, the restaurant views were spectacular, and the hotel clearly has a lot of potential. But a number of service and practical issues got in the way. We arrived at 1am after a long day travelling. The entrance was poorly lit, and we couldn’t find the luggage ramp, so my 75-year-old mum and I carried our cases down the stairs. Check-in took well over 30 minutes per person despite there being only one guest ahead of us, apparently because of communication difficulties. When we got to the room, it had a partial sea view mainly over a car park, although we’d paid extra and expected a full sea view. Reception said nobody could help and there was no manager on site. We went to bed at 2am, then returned shortly after 6am and were told nobody would be available until 8am. The issue was eventually resolved, and we were moved to a room with the direct sea view we expected. Food was reasonable, but popular dishes sometimes ran out by 7.30pm even though dinner starts at 6.30. The wristbands caused an awkward scene too. We were given the wrong colour twice, then told at dinner, in front of other guests, that we’d have to pay despite being half-board. Staff eventually cut the bands off with scissors at our table while we were eating and replaced them. Customer service felt inconsistent. When I brought up the problems on arrival, the hotel seemed defensive instead of listening. Someone even suggested communication would have been easier if I spoke Spanish. I was also told they tend to wait for guests to ask questions instead of providing information, which seems like an odd practice. On our last night the patio door broke and wouldn’t lock. We were told maintenance would look at it the next morning, so we were expected to sleep with it unsecured. A few practical points: bring cash for things like towels and the safe. A bench outside would help elderly guests, pregnant women, families and anyone waiting for a transfer. A welcome booklet or clearer check-in information would be useful, and hooks in the late-departure shower facilities by the gym would give guests somewhere to keep their towels, clothes and toiletries dry. With some fairly simple improvements, this could be an excellent holiday destination.
