Petit Hotel Hostatgeria Sant Salvador

We stayed in an apartment with two bedrooms and a living room, and it felt like good value. The breakfast was simple but nice, while the other meals were just average. The Estrella Damm was excellent, though. Up at 500 m, it’s cooler, and the views are outstanding. The seven-kilometre winding climb can be a bit much for some drivers, but the place has a great atmosphere and plenty of history.

It’s worth having a car here. Walking down isn’t really possible, or at least doesn’t feel safe, and Felanitx is about a ten-minute drive away. We didn’t want to drive into town, so breakfast felt a bit limited and average. The hotel itself is lovely, quiet, and very clean. There’s no AC, but the thick stone walls keep the heat out, and the cool, foggy mornings add to the experience. A really beautiful, unusual place, and well worth trying.

There’s no pool, just a small outdoor space, and we didn’t mind that. A few loungers on the terrace would have been welcome for daytime relaxing, though. The mountain setting at Sant Salvador, 510m, means no buildings around and real peace and quiet. Getting there is an adventurous, steep drive on winding roads. You’ll want a car for daily trips, but it’s also a fantastic challenge for ambitious cyclists.

The authentic building and the view are great, but you really need a car to stay here. The serpentine road takes about 10 minutes, and you have to drive it every day 😎. A big downside is that there’s nowhere to plug in an electric car. It’d be really useful if they added charging, even for a fee.
