I liked that they welcome pets, and having cold water in the lobby was a nice touch. The room was comfortable and very clean, though it wasn’t new, which felt right for the star rating. Self check-in turned out to be much easier than I expected. I got distracted by the key card and missed the room number, so I had to call to find out what it was 🙈. The area felt a little bleak to me as a solo traveler, and I didn’t feel completely safe. I didn’t see anything specific to explain that feeling, though, just the old, poorly maintained buildings.

The self check-in was easy, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The room was noisy and dirty, so getting any rest was difficult. The bathroom looked fairly new, though the lack of shelves made it impractical. For the price, the stay was disappointing.

I found it good value for one night in Ferrol before starting the Camino Ingles. The room was comfortable and had its own toilet. In summer, with no air conditioning, I left the window open. It’s in central Ferrol, though the port and Camino starting point are still 2-3 km away.

Mario met us and helpfully drew a map showing where to begin the walk the next morning. We were two people staying at Hotel Silva on the first night of our Camino Ingles, and the clean rooms and generous breakfast got us ready for the 30 km trek to Pontedueme. With dinner included, the hotel has an arrangement with La Mallorca down the street. They gave us a nice welcome and plenty to eat. The one small drawback is the distance to the official Camino start at the port of Ferrol, about a 30-minute walk. You have to double back through some of the older neighborhoods. It didn’t bother us much, though those extra kilometers were noticeable by the end of the day.

We only stopped in for breakfast. The meal was really nice, the place was neat and clean, and the waiter was friendly.
