Hostal Don Pepe

We ended up sleeping in our car after things went so badly. This is the worst hostel or hotel experience I've had. There were several cockroaches in the room just ten minutes after we unpacked. They were out in the open, and I had time to take photos. One was near the food we'd taken out of our suitcases, so we had to throw the food away. The area felt dirty and unsafe, especially at night, and the room didn't have basics like soap or drinking cups. Noise was another problem from the start. The people next door were yelling and arguing when we arrived, and were still at it an hour after check-in. Nothing was done. When we tried to get help, the host was nowhere to be found. We called and knocked at reception many times, then banged on the door for 30 minutes. We eventually left because it was late and we weren't going to sleep surrounded by cockroaches. We have a photo showing us in the car at 2 a.m. with our GPS position. In the morning, the host refused even a partial refund and called us liars until we showed him pictures and videos. He said we hadn't called or knocked, claimed he would have seen us leave if we'd slept in the car, and said the cockroaches weren't that bad and we didn't need to go. He then stopped replying to our messages. I've never dealt with a host so disrespectful and petty. If you want to stay near Figueres, avoid this place.
