Hotel Tematico Do Banco Azul

We were lucky enough to get a room with a beautiful view over the water, and we could watch the sunrise from bed. The hotel is right in town, within walking distance of good restaurants and a market. Loved staying here. It deserves a rating higher than two stars.

The view was the only good part of this stay. For this price range, it was the worst place I’ve ever stayed. Our room was tiny, smaller than advertised, and had very cheap materials. The sheets weren’t clean, and there was human hair in the bed, so I wasn’t sure it had even been changed. There’s a large area by the sea out front where the municipality holds weekend events, with loud concerts going on until 5 am. I contacted the manager. At first he said the event would end at 9 pm. When I told him it had been going all night, he said that was normal for a tourist center and something we should expect in the center. He didn’t reply after that. By 11 pm, we couldn’t find anywhere else to check in. The breakfast and service felt like a hostel, but came with a luxury price. At €200, this wasn’t acceptable. It felt like a tourist trap.

The location right on the seafront was amazing, with views to the southeast, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay, with a fabulous, comfortable room and a beautiful breakfast out on the terrace.

The hotel has been newly refurbished, with views across the water, and they even provide a tablet in the room. It’s very conveniently placed near restaurants. Great hotel and destination. I wish I’d stayed for a week.
