Casa Rural La Cantina

A quiet little village, and really good value for the money.

The breakfast was tasty and generous, and the price is hard to beat. The Wi-Fi was good, the rural feel suited me, and although the bed felt odd at first, I slept really well. The owners were nice, and the attention we got was good. It's a good place if you like peace and the countryside, though the quiet is only so-so when tractors start early and keep going late. Still, for this price there's very little to complain about. Some Booking.com reviews, rated 9, raised my expectations, but a few claims seemed true and others felt like outright lies, or maybe came from people with no discernment. The first picture on Google is fake. I also found it suspicious that we were asked to pay before being shown the room. Other places have felt friendlier and warmer, to be honest. The surroundings are rural, but I wouldn't call them wonderful. La Alberca is wonderful, as are Eirexalba and its "Casa da Cabaza" and lake, Ferrería de Incio with its medicinal water spa, Aínsa, Alquézar, and the Sil Canyons. Someone called the rural house beautiful. It's not ugly, but that person must not have seen many rural houses. I've stayed in places rated 7.5 that many hotels would envy, though they cost a bit more. Thanks to the owners for the attention we received.

The owner was attentive and friendly, and the room was clean. Breakfast was enough, and this is a peaceful place if that's what you're after. It sits about halfway between Zamora, Bragança, and Miranda do Douro. One small suggestion: breakfast at 9:00 felt late, so it would be good if it started at least half an hour earlier.

The owners have been really friendly and helpful, including sharing ideas for places to visit. I arrived yesterday and I'm already delighted with the stay. There's not much to see in the town itself, but the nearby villages are lovely and worth the drive. I especially liked Riomanzanas. The house is very clean and neatly arranged. Breakfast this morning was delicious, with orange juice, toast, muffins, and coffee or hot chocolate. There's easy parking, the heating is great, and I loved coming back to a warm room. The Wi-Fi works well throughout the house, and the common room has board games, plenty of books, and a TV. I've got two days left and plan to enjoy them.
