Apartamentos Mary

The apartment was comfortable enough for a stay, and close to everything you need: shops, the beach, restaurants, and public transport :)

The apartment was cold during our stay, when the weather was a little chilly. Although it had air conditioning, it was set to blow warm air only. For the sofa bed we got a pillow, a bottom sheet, and a duvet cover with no pillowcase. When I asked for a top sheet or a duvet cover, he seemed surprised and struggled to help. The kitchenette was quite sparse, too. And despite the advert, the apartment isn't on the beachfront. It's on the second line, next to the old main road.

We booked an apartment with air conditioning in the living room, but it only ran in fan mode because the motor wouldn't start, so there was no cold air. When we told the owner, he laughed at us and said we didn't understand the remote. He went upstairs to “try to fix the motor,” although he knew it wasn't working and had no idea how to repair it. He was sweating as he tried, but kept insisting the air conditioning worked. He has absolutely no manners and mocked us to our faces. The air conditioning also shuts off every 15 minutes because of a motion sensor, so you'd have to wake up every 15 minutes to turn it back on if you wanted it running overnight. The electricity meter had a €15 maximum, and if you used that up, you had to pay extra for electricity. The apartment is quite old, the terraces are full of cracks, and the terrace window doesn't close properly. A piece of wire holds up the toilet paper holder. The kitchenware was very limited, and the towels provided were worn-out, old towels from other hotels. Most of the electrical outlets were loose, and one was burnt out. A very bad experience. I wouldn't return even if it were free.

The only good thing about the apartment is its location. The place itself is quite old and lacking in everything, and the pillows are so bad you can't sleep properly on vacation. The host was peculiar, and we felt watched as he and his son kept circling around. We were just five minutes past checkout when he came looking for us and said we'd have to pay extra if we didn't leave. Not recommended.
