ILUNION Miramar

The apartment's living room and kitchen area were good, the bathroom had everything we needed, and we enjoyed the warm balcony. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the staff were nice. The restaurant is amazing value at 18 euro for 3 courses. Miramar shopping centre is around the corner, the beach is a 20 minute walk away, and there's a zoo within walking distance. It's also good for children, with play areas and a public playground near the shopping centre. The outdoor pool was the selling point for me, but it was misleading. It's 0.38M all the way around, basically a glorified paddling pool. There's no way to swim in it. The indoor pool and sauna cost extra. We're a couple and had an apartment with two single beds pushed together. It felt dangerous, and I couldn't cuddle my partner. We had to wedge a pillow in the middle to stop ourselves falling through the gap, and the beds kept rolling apart. For the kitchen, please provide washing up liquid and a sponge so guests can do the dishes.

The hotel was a nice place to stay, and I can recommend it. There's good parking on the street, at least at Christmas in December. The rooms were okay overall, though the dishes could have been a bit cleaner. In winter, the indoor pool is included, but you need to bring or buy a swimming cap to get in. There's a big shopping centre nearby with everything you can think of, and it's a few minutes' walk to the beach. Fuengirolla centre is a little further, and car access is good, 2-3 mins from a highway. Breakfast is available for 15 EUR per person, or 13 EUR if you buy it at reception at least a day in advance. It's a buffet with lots of choice, but the quality is middling at best. Most things are a bit bland or dry, and the coffee is pretty bad, from a machine that dispenses instant coffee. Still, it's an okay option if you don't want to sort out food yourself. Reception service is excellent. They speak good English and are always helpful. You can activate the safe for a few euros per day. Late checkout and early check-in are available for a fee, FEE, NOT FREE. We took late checkout, which extends checkout from 12 to 13 or 14. We chose 14, the latest available. It costs 10 eur per hour and depends on availability.

The location worked well, close to a shopping mall. The booking itself was basic, though, and several things cost extra, including drinks with the half-board dinner, gym access, and an iron. There was no conditioner in the shower, no slippers, and no tea or coffee in the room, unlike hotels when booking apartments at Ilunion hotel.

The food really stood out, and the indoor pool and jacuzzi were great. There was also a spotless playroom for the kids. We liked being near a huge shopping center, with the beach and bus connections close by. We had a great stay and would happily come back.
