Hotel Reyesol

The hotel is in a quiet area, with the beach and fish alley's restaurants and bars each about a 200/300 yard walk away. We had a terrace room, so the bedroom itself was quite small. It was kept very clean, and breakfast was basic but fine. We enjoyed our stay, keeping in mind the hotel's 2 star rating and price.

The staff made the place for me. Everyone was great, and the lady making barista coffee at breakfast each day was especially cheerful and skilled at a good cafe con leche. The breakfast is simple, with fresh bread, fruit, meat, cheese and made-to-order coffee. Locals eat there too, which says a lot. It isn't fancy, but it's cheap and good value. I worried it might be too cheap and a bad choice, but I'm glad I stayed and would come back. It's an easy 8 minute walk from the train and bus stations, and simple to find on foot. The hotel was built in 2009, has marble floors throughout and lifts to every floor. Rooms are spacious and clean, with at least a Juliet balcony. Some top floor rooms have larger balconies where you can sit outside. The mattresses are fairly firm, the air conditioning works well, the bedding is cotton, and blankets are available. The bathrooms were clean and fresh, though the shower hose and bath screen had limescale, as you'd expect in a hard water area. Towels were changed daily, and the bathroom was freshened up, bins emptied and beds made each day. My second floor room had a little evening street noise, plus occasional noise from upstairs because of the marble floors. It's near the beach, bars, places to eat and small food shops used by locals. Hotel vending machines sell snacks and drinks, coins only. Ten steps from the entrance there's a butcher and grocer where a 1.5l bottle of water costs 1 euro.

For the price, the location was hard to fault. The place was clean and quiet, and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was a basic continental spread, but there was plenty of it and the coffee was lovely. Free parking was a huge bonus.

The location was excellent, and the hotel was comfortable and very clean. I was out early each morning, so I didn't have much contact with the staff, but they seemed friendly.
