Sur Suites La Dorada

We stayed five nights. The location is good, close to the beach, and the apartment had the basic utensils we needed. The kitchen is small but reasonably equipped. The rooms, bathroom and bed linens were clean, and the fridge was clean too. The balcony was nice, and the place was mostly as advertised on booking.com. On day four the lift broke, but someone came and fixed it in under an hour, which was a good sign of maintenance. The floors, though, were really dirty. I’ll share photos of our socks after walking around. My daughter’s got filthy just five minutes after she put on a clean pair. We chose the apartment because it was listed with a washing machine, but it was completely unusable because of the mould and awful smell. This seems more like a design problem than a management issue: the surrounding furniture keeps the door shut, so it can’t air or dry. Replacing the machine and removing the cupboard door would let it stay open to dry. There were a few other annoyances. In the shower, it was hard to set the water so it came from just one outlet, rather than both the overhead and handheld showerheads, which made it difficult to shower without getting my head wet. The underground parking was a bit tight, as others say, but the spaces are laid out so most cars fit. I can see how it’d be inconvenient if you needed the car daily or several times a day. Still, compared with similar parking in Valencia or Barcelona, it seemed typical, since parking in Spain tends to be small. The apartment wasn’t cheap, yet there were no coffee pods for the machine. After driving more than 1,000 km, we had no coffee in the morning and had to go buy some. A box of 20 costs €5, and including two or four as a welcome would have felt much more thoughtful, even if the price went up by €1 or €2. As it was, it felt like they wanted our money without offering considerate service. It’s an average place in a touristy area. I’m not sure I’d stay again, though it wasn’t a bad choice overall.
