Hotel Rural Villa Onuba

The room was basic but perfectly adequate, and though its heating wasn't working, they fixed it immediately when I mentioned it. The facilities are a little dated, but everything worked as it should. We had good buffet breakfast, and the service was excellent and friendly. The hotel was easy to find, with easy parking across the street and on the access road. What I remember most is how friendly the staff were, the peaceful setting and the view of the trees from our room. A great spot if you're after tranquility.

The rooms are tiny for the number of beds, and the meals didn't offer much variety. We went as a group with a training school. The food tasted good, but we got vegetable puree as a starter and vegetable stew for the main. Hygiene was good, and the receptionist and cafeteria guy were great. The woman in the kitchen was polite and serious, very, very serious. It's fine if you need to do something in the area, but definitely not somewhere to go to enjoy yourself.

The setting is wonderful and natural, and the hotel itself is quite nice and clean. Breakfast was why I gave it a 3. The food was fine, but everything was sugary: pastries, white bread and a cold cut with so much gristle, and such poor quality, that I couldn't eat it. I asked for eggs because I eat protein in the morning, but they didn't have any. Even yogurt wasn't an option, and the woman in the kitchen gave me a firm no before I'd finished asking.

Waking up among such a variety of trees in a beautifully kept, peaceful setting was magical. Fuenteheridos is very close, and a short walk takes you into the village to enjoy its charm or set off on one of the many hiking trails. We'll definitely come back, and I highly recommend it.
