Hostal Carmen

The owners were very friendly, and the hostel was basic but very clean. It's in a great part of Sanabria. I couldn't sleep comfortably, though, because the pillows were too thick and the fitted sheets kept coming loose from the mattress.

I've stayed at this hostel a few times. It's pretty average and a little expensive for what you get, though the central location made the price seem manageable. What has put me off for good is the cancellation. I cancelled for financial reasons within the owner's stated time limit, but nearly 30 days later I still haven't received my €100 refund. I've contacted her every three days and keep being put off, so we don't know what to do. We won't be coming back.

Clean, in good shape, and for a place like this there's more bathroom soap than I've found in many hotels.

A lovely owner, a really quiet atmosphere, and a fantastic location. I loved it, and the place was very clean.
