Allucant

We’ve spotted around 5,000 cranes during our 2.5 days here, and the three-course dinners have been delicious every time. It’s hard to pick a favorite. We’re here on a birdwatching tour, and Javier even took time away from work today to help us look for a couple of elusive species. The beds and amenities are comfortable, and the lagoon is about a five-minute walk away, just beyond the Interpretive Center. Wonderful stay!

The food was okay, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The mattresses were awful, wardrobes were missing doors, and it was cold all over the place. On our school trip, our teacher asked staff to turn on the room heating. It ran for about five minutes, then stopped, so I was freezing until 6:50 am, when the radiators finally came on. There was also a little mold around the window edge. I didn’t like this place.

I only popped in for a beer, but got to see a lovely art exhibition being set up by Carlos and Beatriz. It’s a smashing place to stay, close to the incredible Laguna Gallocanta.

A big library of bird books, a room to sleep in and a good bathroom, that's what this special place offers. Xavi is such a lovely guy, and Vipol is a fantastic cook with vegetarian and vegan food. He even speaks eight languages, including German. If you're after luxury instead of a great place for a solo birder, this might not be for you.
