Our holiday at Don Ximo, fourth floor, apartment 23, booked through Holidu under “Apartments and Beaches,” turned into a nightmare. There aren’t enough elevators for all the apartments, so it took 15 minutes to reach one. The apartment has no air conditioning or even a fan, and there are no living-room blinds to keep out the sun. The beds creak like “at Aunt Clotilde's house,” the wardrobe doors don’t slide, and the sofa is falling apart. A complete disaster. Never again.

The terrace at Don Ximo on Gandia beach is spectacular, and a great place to enjoy a Sol Pla ice cream.
