The beach is just a couple of blocks away, and along the Paseo marítimo it’s a short walk to the port. There are a couple of chiringuitos by the beach, though they’re a bit overpriced. I suppose part of that is paying for the Mediterranean view. For €1.70, the Linea 2 bus from the nearby stop takes you up to Gandía’s lovely old town, which is well worth visiting. There’s also plenty of street parking nearby, and the hotel has its own parking too. We hadn’t realised when booking that, during our stay, a huge number of young people would be at the hotel, apparently for a sports gala. There were kids and teens racing around, but the staff handled it admirably. We really admired their patience and professionalism. The dining room was well organised, and the staff there were marvellous. The bar team were kind and attentive too. The hotel itself is excellent and laid out well. My only small criticism is that reception could be bigger. It’s on the edge of the tourist area, but a more than decent base for exploring the area.

We were very happy with our half-board stay. The room was comfortable and very clean, the service was very good, and the pool was spotless. The hotel is also very close to the beach. If you’re arriving by bus, I recommend getting off at the last stop before it heads back toward the city of Gandia. Everything was excellent.

The hotel was like St Trinians during our stay, with hundreds of schoolchildren and teachers shouting and screaming, holding up the lifts, blocking the front doors and ramp access, and filling the pool. It was a nightmare. We only ate breakfast there once because it wasn’t up to standard. Pool rules seemed to be applied differently: if we left our sunbeds to get a drink or go swimming, our towels were taken away, while towels left by Spanish guests were left alone. Very few staff spoke English. We were there from the 1st to 15 of June for a two-week family holiday across three generations. My father is 81 and has only one leg, and my mother is 84 and has had both hips replaced. A month before arriving, we asked for an accessible room and were told it would be no problem. On arrival, we were rudely told none were available and to come back in two or three days to see if one could be found. Two days later my parents were moved into a three-bed apartment, but it still had a bath and no walk-in shower. For the whole two weeks they had to wash themselves with a sponge. That was not acceptable. I’ve stayed in hotels all along the Spanish coast, from Malgret De Mer to Benamadena and everywhere in between. This is the worst one I’ve encountered. One star at best.

A big thank you to Osvaldo in the dining room. He was quick, capable, and excellent with his service, and he helped his colleagues as well as doing his own job. He’s also one of the few people in Spain I’ve met who speaks English. Best of all, he did everything with a smile. Muchas gracias, Amigo!

For a three-star hotel, this is great value. The pool area was nice, and there’s an okay bar, table tennis, a billiard table, and vending machines. Parking is available, with lots of spaces on the streets around the hotel if the hotel parking is full. The restaurant was quite noisy, with its marble floors and concrete walls. As in most places in Spain, unfortunately, the English skills were poor. I’m 60 and from Sweden, and I manage fine with English when we travel.
