Hotel LIVVO La Quinta Roja

The hotel is right in the heart of this little town, close to world-class hiking. The people working here are lovely, the service is fantastic, and the restaurant is great. There’s also a beautiful courtyard with well-cared-for plants.

We felt welcomed and comfortable thanks to the warmth and kindness of everyone, from reception and housekeeping to the bar and restaurant staff. Silogia is well worth eating at, the food is amazing and the staff are lovely. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with lovely rooms that had everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious, with a good selection and especially tasty sweet treats. Right on the square and in the centre of everything, we never walked more than 5 mins to get anywhere we wanted. There’s free parking nearby if you’re driving. We absolutely loved this peaceful, relaxing stay in Garrachico and will definitely come back.

The room’s tiny window kept it dark, and there was a smelly drain in the bathroom. The building is OLD: from our ground-floor room we could hear EVERY step from upstairs, including people kicking off shoes, getting in and out of bed and going to the bathroom at night. We barely slept. There were no tea or coffee facilities in the room and no hotel bar, so after breakfast there was no refreshment at all when the restaurant was closed, for example on Monday. The breakfast room coffee came from a machine. There’s a lot to like at La Quinta Roja too. Its location in the historic centre is amazing, overlooking one side of a pretty, lively pedestrian square. We loved hearing the church bells, birds in the trees and locals and tourists chatting at the kiosk. Free parking is about 2 minutes away. The historic building has an attractive, plant-filled atrium ringed by wooden walkways, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a small but lovely rooftop sun deck, plus a huge, well-equipped yoga and pilates studio that guests can use for free. I had it to myself, though classes are also held. Guests can borrow bikes and helmets for free. Breakfast had a good, typically Spanish selection, including pastries, cold cuts, fruit, tortilla and freshly squeezed orange juice. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it.

The hotel is beautiful and right in the city centre, close to the lava rock pools. Its movie-like inner yard has comfortable sofas and gorgeous plants. Each room is lovely and different, but ours was on the noisy side and looked overdue for renovation, especially the very basic bathroom. The towels were badly worn, grey instead of white, with threads sticking out. The listed amenities were soap bars and bath robes. The hair dryer was very old and weak. The breakfast buffet exceeded our expectations for a hotel with only 19 rooms. There was a big choice of hot and cold self-serve food, including fruit and local specialities, and an excellent range of teas. The industrial, office-style coffee machine was one letdown. Breakfast was served in the outside yard, where a cleaner working with a leave blower right beside the area made it noisy and annoying.
