Hotel La Colina

The hotel looks pretty nice from outside, but we won’t be back. Traffic was loud, and the “balcony” is really just a door opening onto a fenced ledge. The hallway light outside our door was the only one that didn’t work, so we walked in the dark until another sensor picked up our movement. I didn’t see or hear anyone all evening, then realised the guests were in the room right beside us. I don’t know how they assign rooms. The receptionist was straight-faced and unkind when we arrived, so I didn’t feel inclined to ask for another room. My toddler had travelled transatlantic the day before, and I just wanted to settle in and sleep. The bathroom smelled strongly of old urine. I don’t know if it was a sewage problem or if the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly. The bathroom door was glass, so I wouldn’t stay here with coworkers. There was a new mirror with a clock built into it, but the time wasn’t set and I couldn’t work out how to set it. It blinked all night, then around 6 there was a noise that I assume was an alarm from the broken clock. I was really disappointed, and wish someone had rated it poorly so I wouldn’t have brought my family here.

We had good food in the restaurant, and dinner was only 20 euros for three courses and two beers. The room was clean and the service was good. A good place to stay for a couple of days.

Jose checked us in and really looked after us. He was kind and caring, and made sure we were comfortable and liked our room. He helped us out a lot. I think he’s the best worker here, and I’d like to thank him so much.

The room smelled of cigarette smoke even though there was a no-smoking sign on the door, and an ashtray had been provided. Still, it was very clean and good value for money. The staff were lovely and very helpful.
