Hotel Faranda Pathos Gijon, Ascend Hotel Collection

The location worked perfectly for seeing the old town and the sights, and there's a large public car park about a five minute walk away. Our top floor room had a great view, the bed was comfortable, and the room was clean with working air conditioning. The staff were friendly too. For the price, I really can't complain 😊.

We were there for Vespa World Day, from 1 to 4 May. The hotel is central, quiet, clean, and well maintained, with friendly staff. Breakfast was good value, and there are bars and restaurants all around. There's also a great bar just a minute away, and the seafront is close.

For the price and location, it was okay, but don't expect a three star standard. Our tiny room was hard to walk around in, and the floor had little hairs on it. There was a spider in the corner, a strange smell, and an old towel that was torn. The air conditioner actually blew with a burnt smell and cut the electricity. Reception acted like that was normal and told us to wait a bit. This can hardly be called a one star hotel.

The continental style breakfast was fine, and the staff spoke Spanish, French, and English. The hotel was clean and well maintained. It's right in the heart of Old Gijon, with restaurants, cafes, cider bars, and shops nearby, and the beach promenade is about a five minute walk away.
