Apartments Historic

The Jewish quarter is a lovely base, with the cathedral and plenty of other sights close by. This is one of the most charming, quaint places I’ve stayed in a long time. I can’t wait to return to Girona, and I might stay at Hotel Historic again.

The location gives you a real old town stay, and both the building and rooms are in very good shape. We left our car outside the old town, so getting to the hotel meant climbing quite a lot of stairs with our luggage. Keep that in mind if you’re driving.

Breakfast was first class, definitely don’t miss it. The rooms are very large, and the service was exceptional. This is a wonderful historic hotel right in the city’s historic center, so you’re surrounded by the heart of town. Driving can be awkward since there’s no parking right beside the hotel. You’ll need to walk a few blocks to park on local streets, but you can’t go far wrong choosing this place.

The family suite was nicely decorated and had a lovely bathroom with a jacuzzi, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a stay with young children. Thin bedroom shutters let in lots of light, with no curtains, so the rooms were bright at night and especially at sunrise. Our kids didn’t sleep well. After a long travel day in 35C heat, we also expected complimentary bottled water in the room, though that’s a small complaint. For the price, it was disappointing for a 4 star hotel.
