The toilet smell spread through the whole apartment, and even air fresheners we had to buy couldn’t overcome it. There were also odors coming up the stairs. We suspect they came from the kitchen of the Basque restaurant next door. One day the mezzanine door was wide open, and it looked like a cooking show. On top of that, bars and restaurants nearby brought noisy customers who didn’t respect the neighborhood’s quiet hours. That’s hard for the accommodation managers to solve, but we want to support tourism that respects the people, city, and natural surroundings that welcome us. The apartment is up a narrow staircase, on the third floor plus a mezzanine, with no elevator. We’re not sure whether the listing said so, but people with reduced mobility and families with children should take note. We also don’t understand the extra charge for arriving after 8 pm. Access was through a code panel, and we never met the hosts during the stay. On the plus side, the kitchen was very well equipped with all the utensils needed, and there was a welcome detail. The layout worked well, though the place has little personality and all the furniture is from a well-known furniture factory in Sweden. The location is the very heart of things, on a picturesque street, with a supermarket right next door. We stayed as a family over Christmas to enjoy Girona, and it was an excellent base for getting around the city and using the apartment just as a bedroom. Thank you. Let’s embrace each other, because we won’t meet again.

The apartment itself felt neglected, with dirty walls and an unpleasant bathroom smell. Cleaning also seemed very superficial: long brown hairs were left around, and the mattress protectors hadn't been changed between guests, just turned inside out. The old town location sounds ideal, but the poor soundproofing made sleep impossible. First the bars and restaurants stayed noisy late, then came the garbage trucks, people leaving the clubs, and finally the street sweeper around 5 or 6 in the morning. We were quite disappointed and are sure we won't return.
