DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Girona

The rooms were clean, though some areas are showing their age. Parking was okay, but spaces are limited. Keep in mind there’s an extra €5 delivery charge for room service, while picking up your order at the bar is free. Church bells from nearby chime every quarter hour and might drive more sensitive family members crazy at night. We booked two rooms because the hotel was near the park, but it turned out to be about 20 minutes too far from the old city for my family. It’s a nice business hotel, just not a fit for a family vacation.

The stay was noisy, uncomfortable, and poorly maintained, and I wouldn’t return. I had more than 50 hotel nights with Hilton in 2025 as a Diamond member, and this was easily my worst experience. I’m shocked the DoubleTree by Hilton Girona carries the Hilton name. Our first room had heating and ventilation that couldn’t be switched off from inside. The ventilation was so loud we couldn’t relax or sleep properly. Reception said they could only turn it off centrally, so we had no control and had to call the front desk each time we wanted the heating back on. That’s absurd and unacceptable for any hotel, especially a Hilton. After we complained, we were upgraded to a suite, but it was in deplorable condition: the shower button had fallen off, the laminate floor had large visible gaps, and the furniture was worn, stained, and clearly neglected. If I’d paid full price, I’d have demanded a room change or refund. All suites face the main road, too, so traffic noise made resting nearly impossible. Breakfast was just as disappointing. Staff seemed more interested in talking among themselves than greeting guests or giving basic service. There was no warmth or attentiveness, and the hotel showed little genuine interest in guests. At checkout, nobody even asked how our stay had been, which summed up the indifference we experienced throughout.

We had to cancel because our flights were cancelled, but DoubleTree by Hilton Girona handled the situation really well. Pol Domenech at the front desk was especially understanding, professional, and helpful throughout. The refund process was explained clearly and went smoothly, and the communication was kind, prompt, and reassuring during a stressful time. We couldn’t stay on this occasion, but the service left a great impression. We’d be happy to book again and recommend them for their professionalism and customer care.

We chose the hotel mainly for its closeness to Can Roca and El Celler de Can Roca, and we could walk to both, though there weren’t many pedestrians on the way. It felt somewhat far from downtown Girona and was in what looked like a residential area. I booked through the Hilton app and used points for our one-night stay. The room was spacious for the two of us and fairly quiet. The front desk staff were nice, and we got cookies at check-in. We skipped the pool and breakfast, so I can’t comment on either. There’s a large supermarket across the street, which was handy for picking up a big bottle of water.
