Barceló Carmen Granada Hotel

The location is excellent, right in the city centre, and the staff were professional and friendly. Barceló Carmen Granada has a modern, stylish feel, with a comfortable bed, a great shower concept, and a pleasant atmosphere throughout. It was fully refurbished in 2023. The Christmas dinner on December 25th was also very nice and festive. My girlfriend and I visit Granada several times a year and usually choose boutique-style hotels in the center. We picked this as a more affordable alternative to Palacio Gran Vía. There were a few drawbacks: the underground parking at €21/night is extremely tight, and getting to it through the narrow old-town streets is difficult. Our shower head leaked and wasn’t fixed during our stay. Housekeeping could also improve a little, since we found some hair in the bathroom after it had been cleaned. It’s a solid hotel with a lot of potential, and I’d happily stay again if those few things improve.

The city-centre location was convenient, and the shower had strong water pressure. There were also plenty of plugs for USB and USB-C devices. But the stay was a poor experience overall. The hotel has several buildings, and nobody told us which elevators to take. The wifi password they gave us was out of date, so we had to go back downstairs and ask for new login details. The bed squeaked badly, and the curtains didn’t cover the window at all, leaving us blinded by light much earlier than we wanted to wake up. At checkout, staff said we couldn’t use the express checkout box on the counter and made us wait in the queue. When we asked what the box was for, they said it was for “unique” customers. Why put an express checkout box out in plain sight with no explanation? It’s ridiculous.

The staff here are the best I’ve come across in 17 years of living in Spain and taking holidays. The hotel itself is beautiful and has a really comfortable feel, and the food was excellent at both restaurants. Thanks for making our much-too-short stay special, and compliments to the chefs. 😕

We spent two nights here. It was clean and comfortable, and the city center is very close, with a large shopping center right across the street. Breakfast had plenty of options and was more than adequate. There are also rooms in different sizes.
