Hotel Los Girasoles I

This was a nightmare, especially with an 8 months old baby. Our first room was extremely small, with the bed right up against the walls and barely any room to move. There’s no elevator, so good luck with luggage. We’d just entered the room and found it nothing like the pictures, and really small, so we asked to cancel. The receptionist said that because we’d checked in, the cancellation fee would be the full reservation amount. They eventually gave us a ground-floor room, so at least we didn’t have to climb two levels of stairs. But it was full of dust, and we could hear absolutely everything happening around reception. The receptionists played music even during the night. I won’t say anything about the baby-size bed or the hot water, which took a decade to arrive. I don’t recommend this hotel at all. It is really well situated, close to buses going to Alhambra and Albayzín. We were late for check-out, but they didn’t charge us.

The location near the city center was a plus, and our room was clean, though small and only satisfactory. The bathroom was uncomfortably cramped. We aren’t big people, but I had to sit sideways on the toilet to fit. The walls were thin too, and I woke up at 4am when the guests next door came in. The main problem was customer service. They made a mistake and had no room available when they said they would, but didn’t call to tell us and waited until we arrived. They said they were "too busy" to call. They booked us at the hotel across the street, which we later found out they also own and manage, then tried to charge us $80 extra because they said it was a nicer hotel. We wouldn’t budge since it was their mistake, and they eventually agreed to honor the price we’d originally booked at.

Great spot, at least. The room barely gives you more space than the bed, and the receptionist wasn't especially welcoming. The place has a powerful industrial-cleaner smell. It's clean, sure, if you like the idea that a chemical smell means everything's spotless and don't mind a faint, lingering aluminum taste. I even checked my backpack to make sure my computer was still there. It was. Slow clap.

The bed wasn't comfortable, the bathroom was so cramped it was hard to get into, and breakfast amounted to coffee, bread and juice. The staff weren't friendly or helpful either. Getting there by car was a hassle because the central streets in Granate are narrow and similar. Online, parking appeared to be included in the bill, but the hotel sent us elsewhere to park and charged us separately. It wasn't cheap. I personally wouldn't consider staying here again.
