The people working there were so, so good and really nice. The bed was comfortable and cleaned every day, and it’s in a great spot near the centre and a supermarket. It was my best hostel stay in Spain. I really hope I can come back to oh my hoste one day.

On December 27, 2025, I was looking for a place to stay for two nights on Booking.com. I had managed to book one night directly at another hostel, but it was full for December 27-28, so I went to OH! MY HOSTEL. Around 3 PM, a dorm bed listed at €17 on Booking.com quickly rose to €23. When I got there, there was no reception, so I booked through the hostel’s own website. That was difficult because I couldn’t view the pages in English, and the final cost was €18.75. I didn’t like having to book that way. A hostel should offer a real welcome, even if it’s only for a few hours in the early evening. Taking money and then sending instructions and door codes by email felt impersonal and unpleasant. I’ve worked in tourism and hospitality for 30 years, so I know the business. I went out around Granada for about two hours, then couldn’t get back into the hostel even though I entered the right code. Someone eventually opened the door. I called the manager to explain what happened. She said she couldn’t hear me, so I asked her to meet me there, since a sign she’d posted said she lived nearby. I didn’t want to be locked out at midnight because of an entry code problem. Instead, she told me to leave immediately. I was shocked and asked why she was acting so disproportionately. She threatened to call the police, and I told her that was fine. I asked for a refund, and it took a long time for her to send proof she’d credited my account with €18.75. She came to the hostel later, but still gave me no explanation when I tried to ask. I left quickly without making a scene, though I was angry. It was late, and the cheapest Booking.com option was €62, so I slept in my car, parked a 25-minute walk from the city center. After seeing the many very negative TripAdvisor reviews about this person, I was relieved to learn I wasn’t the only one who’d experienced her appalling behavior. Of 72 reviews, including mine, the hostel had 46 ratings of “Excellent” or “Good” and 26 of “Average,” “Poor,” or “Horrible.” If someone can’t run a hostel seriously and professionally, they shouldn’t treat travelers who booked there so unpleasantly. I can’t recommend this hostel under any circumstances, and I urge travelers not to stay at this place run by a hysterical, very unpleasant manager.

The place was clean, quiet, and well organized, with secure code access to the rooms and good shower pressure. The location is great, and the owner is kind, communicative, and responsible. Unfortunately, some guests behave badly and show no respect for others. They come back late and drunk, and even feel comfortable watching porn.

The location is excellent, just a few steps from the city center. Our bed was comfortable, the bathroom was a good size, and the staff were friendly and helpful over messages. The room being cleaned between nights without us expecting it was a nice touch. Sound carries everywhere, though. We heard alarms, people talking, and every bathroom visit. On the first morning I woke with a start, thinking there was a storm, but it was someone showering. It really sounded like the shower was inside our room. The bathroom by the hostel entrance also smelled terrible when its door was left open, and the towels were rough and had strange stains. Staff were only around for a couple of hours a day. They were polite by message, but in the brief times we met them in person, they weren’t welcoming. It was just a plain “Hola,” without a smile, asking how we were, or checking if we needed anything, which made the place feel far from hospitable.

My Expedia booking let me pay in local currency on arrival, but they cancelled it without giving a reason. It felt scammy, like they put the room back up at a higher price and sold it quickly. Now I’m left without a hotel for my stay.
