Pensión Bocanegra

The staff were nice and helpful, and the location is great. You can walk quickly to both the Alhambra and the cathedral. The room was tiny and had no fridge, so I'd only suggest this place if you just need somewhere to sleep. It was okay for us, but if you want somewhere cosy and convenient, I'd look elsewhere.

Paying for the whole week in advance was a huge mistake. I don't need a fancy room, but this place is a dump, and the woman at reception was horrible. She yanked my credit card out of my hand before I'd finished the transaction and selected the currency for me. She also lied about my reservation. A room for two adults costs the same as a single, and there were three more available. I could see that online. I asked for a brighter room with a bigger window. It wasn't as if the place was about to sell out.

The room was stuffy with no ventilation, and I could barely sleep even in October. The corridor reeked of cigarette smoke. The sheets and mattress were dirty, and the bathroom was extremely tiny and old, with only boiling hot water. Even as a backpacker, I found it awful and left before my stay was over. For only 6€ more, I found somewhere much better on Airbnb, cleaner and in a better location too.

I felt welcome from the moment I was greeted with a friendly smile. My room was compact but comfortable and clean. It's close to all the amazing sights in Granada, and I'd recommend it to anyone travelling on a budget. :-)
