Smart Suites Albaicin Apartamentos

The apartment’s view was astonishing. I kept taking photos from the same angle each day to catch how the light and shadows changed. It’s in historic Albàicin, and getting there by car is a little tricky because the roads are narrow. Having a private garage made it worth the drive. From there, it’s only about a five-minute walk down to the city center, and about 25 minutes to the Alhambra if you’re not carrying a child or their buggy. It was convenient not to use a car around the city, where parking can be a real problem. Best hotel of our 11-day trip. Five stars!

The staff were friendly and helpful, even stepping in when our hire car wouldn’t go into reverse. Everything listed among the property facilities was there and working. The location was fantastic for getting to all the sights we wanted to see, and we even got a free room upgrade. We could switch on the AC at any time of day. The instructions for reaching the hotel parking through the very narrow old town streets were detailed and useful.

We had a ton of fun and only wish we’d stayed longer. The apartments were modern, clean, comfortable, and fun, and the staff were some of the best I’ve come across in all my travels. It’s about 20 minutes from the Alhambra, just up the hill from lots of great shopping and places to eat.

The reception staff were really friendly, and they’d left milk, snacks, and Nesquik for the kids, which was lovely. The mini kitchen is small but fully equipped, and the washer-dryer came in handy. We stayed during the rainy season but kept warm with the floor heating. The interior was cleaner than I expected, and the view was amazing. One of the best places we stayed on our trip to southern Spain!
