Please avoid this place. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we were interrupting the owner’s social life. He was at the bar eating with friends and could see us waiting to check in. When he eventually came over, he made us feel unwelcome, as if we’d interrupted his meal. He explained nothing, just pointed upstairs and said our room was up there. We asked if we could buy coffee, which he made, but even that seemed to put him out. We had to walk down a pitch-black corridor because we couldn’t find the light switch. The room was a huge disappointment and nothing like the pictures. It felt like a prison cell, with tatty, mismatched furniture and an old cot I wouldn’t put my dog in, let alone a baby. An electric cable ran up to the top bunk rail and back down, which seemed like a strangling hazard. The dirty bathroom had mould and peeling paint; the skirting board and door frames were warped, presumably from water damage. The few white towels were stained and needed replacing. The shower had a large glass wall, so people in the room could see everything you did in the bathroom. There were bars on the window, leaving us no way out of the room if there was a fire in the bar area or corridor. There was no kettle, so the only way to get coffee was at the bar, but the host ignored us when we waited there. The pool was cold and tiny, and too deep for small children. We decided to give it a chance since we were staying at three hotels on the trip and would only be there for three nights. About two hours after arriving, we went to the bar for a meal. The host was again eating with a friend. We waited at the bar for more than five minutes while he sat at a table right beside us, saw us waiting and carried on eating and talking. We ended up going out to eat. It’s a good thing we had a car, since there’s nothing nearby. We went to bed around 8 pm, then left at 5 the next morning, even though we’d paid for three days. We left the key at the bar. The host never contacted us to ask why we’d gone, and didn’t offer a refund or ask what had happened. A dirty, horrible place with a rubbish host. Please don’t waste your money. The photos they’ve posted are nothing like what you get. It doesn’t deserve a single star.
