Los Amigos Nest Hostel

This was my first solo trip, and I got lucky choosing Los Amigos. The shared area was full of kind, laid-back people, and I cooked at the hostel most evenings. It's clean, has what you need, and the tours are great. I especially recommend Claudio, their Nest tour guide. I booked hiking and stargazing with him, and he's the best. Great choice for a woman traveling alone for the first time, especially if you want to hike a lot. You'll see all corners of the island, and having a car makes getting around much easier than public transport. The nearest supermercado is about a 20-minute walk along a gorgeous stretch of coast, with lovely ocean views and natural pools. There's beachside yoga in the morning a couple of times a week, and the hostel cats are adorable. La Mareta, the closest beach, can get very windy, so make some friends and check out nearby beaches too, like Playa de la tejita. I'll be back 😊

At 61, I'd never stayed in a hostel before and was a bit nervous about it. The price helped make the decision, and I ended up having a fantastic time. I met people from all over, even if plenty of them were younger than me 🤣. The dorm was comfortable because everyone was respectful and we got along well. The staff were amazing, and the place was very clean, with showers and toilets kept to a high standard. I didn't have to wait for a shower in the morning. I've really enjoyed my stay.

I've stayed at Los Amigos many times, and the welcome is always great. The staff are awesome, and the cleaning team deserves credit for keeping everything tidy, especially the spotless showers and toilets. You can use a fully equipped kitchen, and tea and coffee are available all day. Beds are comfortable, though the pillows aren't so great 😅.

The setting makes the beds great value, and the place draws a lovely crowd. It's a laid-back backpackers' hostel, just right if you want to chat, meet people and make new connections. Highly recommend it.
