Casa Herrenhaus Finca Montimar

A large finca with several buildings and pools, all set against breathtaking views. It’s well suited to company retreats.

The accommodation was great, and the staff were friendly.

We stayed at Casa Julia on Finca Montimar for 11 days during a longer visit to Tenerife. The indoor pool was beautiful, with sunset views and a view of La Gomera, but it was temporarily out of order because of a technical fault while we were there. The location is very quiet. Although the motorway is relatively close, we hardly heard it from the hillside. It was also easy to get to Teide National Park, the Teno Mountains, and Masca. We found a direct route to Alcalá by car on secondary roads, which Google Maps only showed when we selected bicycle mode. The narrow stretches were easy enough to drive because there was so little traffic, and the 15-minute trip to the coast was no problem. The holiday home was tastefully furnished, clean, and well maintained. Any questions or problems were sorted out very quickly, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Finca Montimar.

Finca Montimar is quiet and secluded, and at first glance it looks idyllic. My stay was disappointing because of serious hygiene problems and the property’s generally outdated condition. The water from the taps smelled strongly from the first day. I reported it right away, but no solution was offered. That’s unpleasant and may also pose health risks. My room had a heavy beetle infestation, with beetles on the floor and in the bed despite cleaning. A second cleaning didn’t clear them either, so the room wasn’t hygienically acceptable. The pool and spa were neglected and in poor shape. Some tiles were broken and could cause injury, the massage jets, counter-current system, and other facilities didn’t work, the water was extremely heavily chlorinated, and a small Kneipp pool was very dirty. Calling it “Wellness & Spa” feels completely unjustified. I left early because the conditions were unacceptable. They offered me another room in the complex, but the general hygiene issues made that no option for me. They refused a refund for the nights I had left. The finca has potential, but I can’t recommend it in its current state. I’d advise checking the latest reviews carefully before booking.
