It costs far too much for what you get. The place is noisy, with little privacy since you can hear the room next door and everything downstairs. The fittings are coming apart, and there's no lift to the rooms. Feels like a truck stop and nothing beyond that. You also have to pay a toll to reach local roads or restaurants.

Plenty of parking for trucks and campers, and it feels safe. The WiFi is free and works really well. Dogs are welcome, even while you're eating, which is handy if you're stopping before or after the boat to the UK or Ireland. It's right off the motorway and wasn't too noisy. There's a petrol station across the road, plus a shop with wine, beer, crisps and all sorts of useful things. Steak and chips were great.

It feels like they don't actually read the reviews and just send an automatic reply. There wasn't even an apology for our visit or a mention of trying to improve.

Getting there was a hassle, the sat nav was confused and it wasn't easy to find. It's close to the Bilbao port, so one night could do if you need a place nearby, though I just hoped the evening would pass quickly. It's pricey for a motorway stop, even if it isn't a graded hotel. I won't keep it in mind for another visit.

The room was fine and the shower was good. There was a rather tatty couch, which made it easy to let the dog up without feeling bad. Around the hotel there are green spaces for a short dog walk, and it's a decent place to stop if you're just off the ferry or heading to one. Probably the last grass the dog will see for a while. The restaurant is neither great nor terrible. Four stars for an okay dog-friendly hotel.
