The landlord was pleasant and friendly, and the room and shared areas, including the bathroom and kitchen, were in very good condition. The electrical outlets were placed awkwardly. I'm changing my review because there were fleas in the room and I could barely sleep. I ended up with over 70 bites. The place is in Haría, very close to Arrieta, with nice beaches and good places to eat.

You really need a car to get around the island from here. The house is in a very quiet part of Haría and has good views. It's somewhat far from the main tourist areas, especially Timanfaya National Park, but a rather nice beach is only 10 minutes away. Our room was simple and clean, and it wasn't very noisy so far, since we were the only guests.

This is a handy base for visiting the north of the island, but the ground-floor studio had several practical issues. The bathroom is inside the studio, separated by two walls that don't reach all the way to the top. The bathroom door handle and the wall bracket for the shower head were missing, as was the bulb in the main chandelier. There were no cleaning supplies like a broom or bucket, and nowhere to hang towels or swimsuits.

The bedding smelled awful, the rooms weren't clean, and the bathroom was worse: mold on the ceilings, a yellow, dirty bathtub, and rusty fixtures. It was impossible to feel comfortable or relax. Cheap or not, I wouldn't risk my health. Better to pay a few more bucks and expect decent service. Sad but true.
