The fire alarm started around 3:30 a.m. and kept going for nearly an hour. When we called the help line, the man said they only learned about it after another guest called, about 20 minutes after it began. If there had been a fire or another serious emergency, we could have been in real danger. The whole ordeal was awful enough that we left a night early, and it ruined our stay. We filed a formal complaint with the city, then the receptionist made us feel ridiculous for asking what had happened. Completely unacceptable. My sister and I had been excited to escape the city and travel through Rioja, but this is a 2-star hotel, and the listing on goggle needs to be corrected. Around the property you can see signs it used to be rated 3 stars and has lost one (see picture). The location itself isn't terrible, though it's out on the edge of town. It's a short walk to the center, but I wouldn't recommend it for women traveling alone, especially when there seem to be better options closer in. Some rooms looked renovated and some didn't, and some smelled of smoke. Our first-floor room reeked of cigarettes, had awful lighting, and felt like a torture chamber. Luckily, customer service changed us to a top-floor room after we called. They were remote, with nobody on-site. The new room was a huge improvement, but if that had been the only problem, we might have felt differently about the stay.

For a one-night stop, this place does the job. The facilities were clean and online check-in was quick and efficient. It doesn't have many frills, but the price is fair for what you get. A decent, practical budget option.

The morning receptionist who spoke good English was a real help, calling vineyards for us to ask about tours. Breakfast had a good selection, and there was easy, free parking right outside. It's very central, and the hotel is spacious with a good-sized bedroom. The en suite is a little tired, but perfectly fine.
