Casa los Herrera

We visited in late February and had a great view over the valley from our room. It was very comfortable for a 2 star hotel, and the staff were nice. There was a simple breakfast buffet with plenty to choose from, though for some reason they only serve egg every other day. There were no evening meals while we were there, so we had to hike down the hill to eat in town, then march back up with full stomachs. Wi-Fi is limited, but that’s clearly advertised, so just get over it. I’d certainly visit again.

The beds were really comfortable, and breakfast was very good, gourmet style with a three-course-menu. The old building has lovely design, wooden parquet floors, an inner courtyard, and a great view from the terrace. We were in room 101 on the first floor beside reception. The main road runs right by the hotel, and early morning traffic, especially buses and lorries, woke us up despite the town being small. After the first night we spotted a defect in one window glass panel; they fixed it immediately, and we slept a bit better on the following nights. Shower hot water barely lasted for one person, though this seems normal in hotels in La Gomera. There’s a hot tub in the garden on the 3rd floor, but at 27 C° it was too cool for winter. We tried to warm it up, but it took too long, reaching only 32°C after 5 hours.

We stayed two nights as a couple and enjoyed the seating spots around the hotel and garden. The room and bed were very comfortable, and the shower was great. Breakfast was good too. We did a loop walk to Playa Caleta on the first day, then continued to Vallehermoso the next.

The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, and service was excellent. Breakfast was unbeatable. Our room was clean and cosy, with plenty of common areas to spend time in. There’s also a hot tub looking out toward the mountains. The restaurant is open Thursday- Saturday and was truly amazing.
