Hotel Palacete

There’s a lovely bar downstairs where you can sit and imagine the city as it used to be, when it was just the place you stayed and the nearby surroundings. The old city begins close by, and you can walk along the cobbles to see the amazing cathedral and the rest of it. The hotel itself is clean, well maintained, and has interesting architecture. It’s in a lovely spot, and the staff are kind and helpful with questions or information. A unique experience 😀

This was my second stay, and the hotel remains a lovely place in the Casco Viejo area. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars nearby. Breakfast was very good, though it wasn’t included in the room price. Service was also very good: the receptionist was especially helpful about parking, which is limited in the area. The hotel has a couple of reserved spaces about 75m from reception, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We skipped the €7-per-person breakfast and went to nearby bakeries instead, where we could enjoy the sunshine and beautiful setting. The hotel is in a charming square inside the fortress, within walking distance of restaurants and bars but away from their noise and crowds. It’s small and charming, with a lovely courtyard bar. There are two floors, or three if you’re American, and no elevator. The rooms are a good size, clean, and bright, with neutral bedding, a comfortable bed, a desk, two chairs, bedside tables, and a wardrobe. The bathroom has a shower, heating, and hairdryer. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. There are three free parking spaces, and street parking is available away from the square. We’ll certainly return. Highly recommended.

The room was small and the bed decent, but the noise was appalling. I asked specifically for a quiet room because I was on a business trip and needed a good night's sleep. Instead, I struggled to fall asleep because other guests kept coming and going from their rooms in the middle of the night. There’s no concierge or anyone to manage late-night traffic or remind guests to be quiet. The windows are poorly insulated. Very disappointing.
