We only had limited time to get up to Hondarriba from San Sebastián, and now wish we’d had another day or two to explore. The hotel was lovely and the staff helpful. We’ll come back, and I’ve bookmarked Hotel Jaizkibel.

Quiet surroundings, and a nice modern hotel with parking on site. It’s about a 10 minute walk to Hondarribia old town, and breakfast is light. I’d recommend renting a car to explore Basque country. The reception and restaurant staff were especially friendly and attentive.

At €400 a night, we still had no coffee in the room, no housekeeping between nights, and staff were consistently rude and unhelpful. For that price, the lack of basic service is unacceptable. The rooms themselves cost us double what other friends paid for the exact same rooms, on the same dates and under the same booking conditions. There was no price transparency. When we raised it, the manager got extremely aggressive and defensive and wouldn’t have a respectful conversation. Hondarribia has plenty of better places for a fraction of the cost, where you’ll at least be treated with basic courtesy. We absolutely wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The noise was a major problem. The walls were paper-thin, and we could hear every word from next door. The room smelled musty, the bedding was uncomfortable and clearly unclean, with stains on the sheets. Housekeeping seemed rushed too, with hair in the shower and the trash still there. The staff felt cold and unwelcoming from the moment we arrived. For what we paid, we expected a much better level of comfort and service. Such a letdown. I honestly don’t understand the positive reviews, and definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

Oihana at reception was brilliant. We had a great stay, the room was cozy, and the bar served amazing food. Looking forward to coming back!
