Casa Rural La Furnia

The area is extremely steep, around 20%, and isn’t walkable. When I hiked to the grocery shop, two dogs barked at me and I had to turn back. Outside the center, Icod isn’t walkable, especially with children. The roads are very narrow and steep, with cars going fast. It’s also much colder and rainier than the south. We were on a family trip and had booked two houses owned by Juan. One reservation, though not ours, was cancelled just two weeks before arrival. By then, 99% of Tenerife bookings were taken, and the remaining options had poor ratings or extremely high prices. We stayed nine nights, and it was the worst stay I’ve ever had. There was mold and a terrible smell, and it got very cold at night, 13 C in the living room and bathroom. An old, dusty AC only heats the main room, leaving the others unusable because of the cold. The bathroom was cold and smelled bad too, and sometimes there was no hot water. Many things were broken, and the plates and glasses weren’t clean. The cave room was tiny, very smelly and claustrophobic. The drive to the house is extremely narrow and difficult. With a bigger car or if you aren’t a good driver, you’ll need to walk 300 metres each way. It was very hard to reach the owner. I messaged and called but only got replies the day before the stay. The pool is shared between two houses, not private, and was closed even though the Bcom description said it was open all year, despite the temperature being 22 C. Wi-Fi was sometimes slow or didn’t work. The cave was a joke.

A relaxing place to spend a holiday on Tenerife, with splendid views of the Atlantic Ocean. The house was very nice and comfortable, with its own garden and pool.

A great fit for anyone looking for a less mainstream kind of tourism. The houses are nice, the garden is big and beautiful, and there’s a pool. The host was very friendly.

The villa was clean and well kept, and the host was welcoming and friendly.
