Casa Campo

The shared living room and the adjoining kitchen made us feel at home. There was a microwave and refrigerator there, plus another kitchen for cooking. Our family spent the weekend in a lovely quadruple room that was spacious, clean, and comfortable at Casa Campo, where we stayed to ski at Austun for two days. It's a 40-minute drive. Julia welcomed us warmly even though we arrived after 10:00 PM. She also called that afternoon to explain which road to take and which route to avoid. We loved the house. The setting is peaceful and lovely, and the house has plenty of space. Still, it felt more like a hostel with a family room than a country house to us. The kitchen is downstairs and too small, with too few amenities for the number of guests. Upstairs there’s a very large living room, but no kitchen. The rooms are fine, though we could hear everything from the neighboring room since we’re all one family. My husband booked a weekend here as a birthday gift for me and my siblings. He accidentally reserved the wrong week, and changing it made the price jump quite a lot. Booking.com didn’t explain the process very clearly, and because he’d booked for so many people and couldn’t make other changes, he went ahead and paid. I thought it was very expensive.

We loved the attic room, and Casa Campo is a lovely place to switch off. It feels like the other side of the world, even though Jaca is only a 10-minute drive away. There’s nothing at all in the village. Getting there can be rough. GPS directs you along a dirt track with potholes, which was awful for our car. There’s another, proper road from Jaca, but the GPS seems to avoid it because it takes about five minutes longer and goes through the middle of town. They don’t take credit cards.

We’ve stayed twice already and plan to come back. It’s a great spot, very quiet, in a village of just 35 people, and about 10 minutes by car from central Jaca. There’s parking right beside the house, so I don’t understand complaints about there being none or the house being dark. The shared kitchen and dining room are really nice. Our room had air conditioning and a bathroom, and the beds were comfortable. Cash payment.
