The setting is lovely, but staying there felt like being treated as a junior student or a care home resident. The rooms had been renovated and were fine, though the place as a spa gave off boarding school or care home vibes. Dinner was much like a work cafeteria, with food that was only okay, and the staff weren't as friendly as you'd expect at a spa. We had to leave early because of a family emergency and gave plenty of notice. Even so, the hotel delayed us while trying to overcharge, which made leaving especially difficult.

The countryside drive and scenery around the hotel were appealing. The rest was a double no for me. The rooms badly need updating, and the shower was falling apart. The spa facilities were a costly joke, with prices so high that calling them overpriced barely covers it. Things generally weren't in good condition, and the restaurant was easy to skip.

The best parts are the mineral water, with two taps as well as a splendid natural pool, and the varied, very clean spa area. The staff were friendly, and our room was quite comfortable, though I missed having somewhere to dry towels. It's a good spot for a quiet 2-3 days and for exploring around the area. Breakfast could be a little better. The coffee queue took ages because there was only one machine, and most guests were well over 70 and seemed to have some difficulty figuring out the technology. Apart from that, things were fine.

The spa's many rules made it feel as if guests were in the way. Steam room time was limited to 10 minutes, the pool area to one hour, and the jacuzzi cost extra. The rooms were more than basic, the restaurant felt soulless, and the staff were miserable. I felt like an inconvenience to them. In a rocky valley, the setting raises your hopes when you arrive at reception and are welcomed by two lovely ladies, but after that it goes downhill. Overpriced and just not very nice 😡

The spa was a nice place to unwind, and dinner was delicious and very good quality. The room was a letdown, with very dated decor and poor mattresses. There was no air-conditioning or fan, so I wouldn't recommend staying in warmer weather. It was unbearable.
