Macarius

We’ve just spent 10 days at Macarius. The setting is breathtaking, overlooking a beautiful bay, though it’s also very windy, which could be a plus in summer. The house felt tired and could use some TLC. There’s plenty of open space and lots of kitchen gear, crockery, cutlery, mugs, and glasses. The air conditioning was poor even in April, so with all the glass, it could be an issue in summer. Upstairs are two ensuite bedrooms with plenty of storage, but the bathroom windows have no curtains. No one was staying in the neighbouring houses while we were there, though that could be different in summer. The ground floor toilet also has no blinds. Downstairs in the basement, there’s a third double bedroom with no window, just a glass panel facing the main area, and no curtain on it. There’s also a large bathroom and an unusual open-plan space with a TV and sofa bed. Behind a curtain are three single beds, but that whole section is open. One other thing: for check-in and check-out, you collect and return the keys at the agency office, about a 15-minute drive from the house. Check-out is at 9:30 am.
