Apartamentos Las Naranjas

The hosts were so helpful with communication, honestly couldn’t have asked for more. It’s just a 4-minute walk to all the restaurants, cafes, and bars, and the place is still really quiet. We nicknamed the apartment 9 Oranges because of the address. There was wine in the fridge and Amelia’s homemade cake too. We couldn’t fault the place or the lovely hosts, and at this price it’s a steal. The location is great, only a few hundred meters from the main square, and a taxi from the station was 6 euros. Parking on the residents-only street was the one downside. The sofa seemed to turn into a bed, so it could work for a family. For two couples, though, the bathroom is ensuite rather than separate from the bedroom. Ours wasn’t the spa apartment, so it had only one bedroom. Getting everything sorted was easy. I called the managers with a few questions about the website, spoke first with Amelia and then Juan, and we booked by phone. They soon sent recommendations for things to do and places they like to eat. We arrived early in Jerez, arranged to meet Juan, and dropped off our bags. He gave us the keys and said he’d message when the previous guests’ cleaning was done. He did just that. Inside, the kitchen is compact and modern, with a large fridge, microwave, stovetop, coffee machine, and loads of useful things. There were plenty of plates and glasses, proper cutlery, sharp knives, a salad tosser, and little basics like salt, pepper, sugar, and even cocoa. The attention to detail was amazing. The roomy living area has a dining table with four chairs, a big corner sofa, air conditioning, a large TV with Netflix, and even a dartboard. Instructions are in three languages. There’s also a small laundry cupboard, fully stocked. The bedroom is a good size, with a desk, its own air conditioning, and a comfortable bed with new sheets. The bathroom is modern and well equipped. The next morning, my wife used the hairdryer and it clattered and died after 10 seconds. I messaged Juan before we went out. Within 20 minutes he’d replied to say there was a new one in the apartment. That’s service you couldn’t get at the Ritz penthouse. The only thing to keep in mind is that the bathroom is ensuite, which may not suit two couples.

We fell for Las Naranjas on our first visit in 2020 and have come back every year since, staying for a fortnight in our little Jerez home away from home. It’s on a small cobbled street in the heart of the Centro Historico, with Andalusian charm and all the modern furnishings needed for a comfortable stay. Amelia and Juan are lovely hosts and help whenever something comes up. Can’t wait to return to Las Naranjas.

The owners are friendly and really attentive, and the apartment is cozy with everything you need, including a jacuzzi for relaxing. It’s right in the center. There’s no street parking, but the Interpak Centro parking garage is close, and you can get a multi-entry pass for 12 or 24 hours at a great price.
