Casa Henrietta

The warm, friendly service and the individually decorated rooms made this a special stay. The rooms are huge and cozy, with views, and the library has an extensive art history collection, including books for swapping. It’s a boutique hotel, but also an art installation, gallery and curio shop. Set in the former mansion of the town doctor, it’s a truly unusual place, and an excellent hotel as well.

I picked this beautiful boutique hotel because, as an artist, I wanted to paint from the terrace. That part was perfect and I had fun painting. There’s no food, though, so check where you’ll get dinner. It’s a long walk, and the hills make it tough if you have difficulty walking uphill.

The rooftop and free coffee earn the one star. Unloading the car was difficult, especially with parking unavailable on that steep road, and nobody was at reception even though we’d booked ahead. The shower head was broken, so we had to switch rooms at 11pm. There was no discount, and we paid the same price shown on the platform, whether booked there or directly with this casa. All in all, a place to avoid.

The village is lovely, a great place to chill out, and I loved the quirky Moroccan style. The back rooms have beautiful views and a lovely welcoming breeze. The place could use some updating and a refresh, but everyone struggled over covid, so give them time and support them.
