Hotel Roca Plana

The restaurant and the hotel are really separate experiences, so here’s my take on both. We chose the tasting menu at the restaurant, and every dish was very good for the price. My favourite was the coconut flan, one of the best I’ve tried. The service was very good, friendly, and had a homely, family feel, with homemade food. For a cheap two-star hotel, it gives you a lot. It’s opposite a beautiful harbour, and the sea-view rooms won’t disappoint. The rooms are what you’d expect at this rating, but they’re very clean. The beds are a little hard, the bathrooms are fine and clean, and the TV is tiny, old, and mounted too high. WiFi was okay, around 11 MB down and almost no upload, so not good for video calls. Parking is on the street. We found spots without trouble, though it can get busy around sunset. Breakfast is very basic but okay. I’m not sure why people complain when it’s free. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. I’ve also stayed at the nearby Flamingo, but I prefer this one for the friendly staff, food, location, and price.

The building looks a little worn, but the price for what you get is good, and the air conditioning in the rooms works very well. The location is lovely, close to the sea. The restaurant and its outdoor patio make a nice place to spend time, with decent meals at average prices. Most of the employees don’t speak English, but they’re kind and will do their best to get you what you need despite the language barrier.

The meal was plentiful and excellent, and the price was very reasonable. It didn’t get off to a good start, but things improved by lunchtime. It can get quite hot outside, so they should put out some fans. Apart from that, I’d recommend it.

John and Jenny stayed just one night, but we liked the location, food, and friendly service. We’d stay again.
