The staff were genuinely helpful and friendly, and the little bar looking out over the lake is a nice touch. You're also just a five-minute walk from town and a superb beach, with a supermarket across the road. It's a traditional, rustic place among the trees beside the lake, with level pitches near the water and terraced ones up the hill. Lots of caravans are there long term, so it can feel quite full, and the tight spaces may be difficult for a large motorhome. The facilities were clean, though dated and a bit worn. If basic camping is what you want, it fits.

There was a lively feel here, partly because youth camps kept things going fairly late and groups of young people hung around. If you're after total peace and quiet, that may not suit you, though we didn't mind it and enjoyed the atmosphere. We were happy with the stay and would come back. The pitches are roomy, there are plenty of shady spots for warm days, and a small shop, beach, and several cozy bars are all a short walk away. The bar by the entrance had friendly service and very reasonable prices. The campsite reopened two years ago after being closed for a long time. Some wear is still visible, but you can see the work going into rebuilding and improving it, at a relaxed Spanish pace. The sanitary facilities could use an upgrade, but they were clean and got cleaned several times a day.

There was no hot water in the main showers, even though it was mid-autumn and this campsite stays open all year. The facilities are decrepit, and when I spoke to management, they showed no intention of fixing anything. Deplorable and shameful, and they still try to charge you. Third-world conditions. No hot water!

The boulevard is just around the corner, and the beach is only 50 meters away, so the location in L’Escala is hard to beat. It's a peaceful, back-to-basics campsite with no luxury, which was exactly what we wanted. The showers and toilets are dated, but they're well cared for and always clean. A good simple, comfortable base near the sea and the town's charm.

The staff were kind and tried to help, even though they speak very little English. The washing machines weren't reliable, so use the laundry shops near the campsite. The restrooms looked disastrous most of the time. I wouldn't bring kids here, since there isn't really anything for them to do and I think they'd be bored.
