Hotel Riomar

The area is amazing, and the owners are friendly and helpful. This is a simple, clean, family-run hotel by an unspoiled beach near l’Escala. At this price, it’s hard to find something similar on Spain’s Mediterranean coast. Some rooms have sea views, and I’d highly recommend it.

I often stop by the terrace for coffee or ice cream, and the staff are nice. I haven’t stayed at the hotel, but I also come here for massages with Cristina. She’s delightful, professional, knowledgeable, and skilled, and I’d recommend her care to anyone staying here or in the area.

I came alone on my motorcycle, planning just one night on my annual tour, but ended up staying a week. It was June, before the season got busy, so things were quiet and I was treated like a prince. There’s a clean nudist beach right on the doorstep, plus a well-maintained pool, air conditioning, good Wi-Fi, excellent food, and a decent wine list. The food was freshly cooked to order with plenty of choices, even though I’ve stayed in some of the very best hotels. The dining room isn’t much to write home about, but it was perfectly clean and decent, and the staff went out of their way to make me feel special. The whole place is dated and well worn, edging into shabby chic and a bit tacky. The bedding looks very 70s, but it didn’t stop me enjoying my stay. I’m almost afraid to say how good the place is in case it gets too popular and loses its charm.

The staff are charming, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the food is delicious, honestly amazing. My family has been visiting L'Escala for 13 years, and this hotel has a special place in my heart. We regularly come for lunch and drinks, and to play Uno and pool.
